Grivola, Gran Paradiso, Italy

La Grivola is the second highest mountain in Italy and is found in the National Park of Gran Paradiso. Grand Paradiso is the highest mountain in Italy at 4,061m and is just a few miles away from Grivola. Grivola comes from the Franco-Provencal dialect Grivolina 'and means' young girl', just like another famous mountain, the Jungfrau. La Grivola is one of the most beautiful mountains in the Alps and can be identified on all sides by its pyramid-like shape.

This view is from Punta Rossa Della Grivola. In the distance you can see the Mont Blanc Massif and in the foreground the Trajo glacier.
